چکیده
Due to variations in the range of gray values among different Cone Beam CT (CBCT) units, bone quality cannot be assessed in a harmonized manner. This study aimed to introduce a new parameter for harmonized and accurate quantitative bone quality assessment in all CBCT images considering the non-uniformity of gray values. Six CBCT units were used in our study to scan a Pro-Dent CT mk-II phantom for determining gray values of Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA, soft tissue equivalent), Delrin (trabecular bone equivalent), and Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE, cortical bone equivalent). Finally, the PTFE/PMMA (PPR) and Delrin/PMMA gray values ratio (DPR) were calculated in different scan protocols with all six units. The PPR and DPR quantities are almost constant, and there is no significant difference between PPR (mean=1.8) and DPR (mean=1.3) in all CBCT units. In this study, a quantitative parameter (PPR and DPR) is introduced constant in all CBCT images. Because of being tissue equivalent of these materials, it is a promising method for bone quality assessment quantitatively in patients.
